Cargotec Business Services becoming truly global after opening new APAC hub in Singapore and a satellite hub in Poland

The Finnish company Cargotec, a global leader in providing products and services for smarter cargo flow, opened on August 3, 2020 a new shared service center hub in Singapore to provide internal services in Finance, Human Resources and Indirect Procurement to the business units of the company in the APAC region.

The opening of the hub in Singapore comes three years after the establishment of Head Office of Cargotec Business Services in Sofia, Bulgaria. Earlier in the summer, in the beginning of July, the company also opened its satellite hub in Poland. With this Cargotec Business Services is now operational in four locations around the globe with over 450 employees.

Despite the challenges that the global Covid-19 pandemic ensued, the APAC hub project was delivered on schedule and the team is already providing internal services to the company as of August 26. The team in Poland is also operational.

The APAC Hub is a key location for CBS, complementing the current services provided by the main location in Sofia, Bulgaria and the US hub in Perrysburg. The headcount and service capacity is being built as the country implementations in the APAC region proceed.

“The opening of the APAC Hub in Singapore marks a major milestone for CBS. Along with opening the satellite hub in Poland, this is a key step in the CBS journey taking us to the level of a true global organization with the hubs in Sofia, Bulgaria and Perrysburg, the USA. I am confident that the future holds great things for the global Cargotec Business Services team. I speak for everyone at Cargotec Business Services when I say that as a global team we will be a trusted partner to the business,” said Miklos Schmidt, Global Head of CBS and General Manager of Cargotec Bulgaria.

The teams in Singapore and Poland are already on board. During the grand opening of the Singapore hub part of the colleagues were present at the office while the rest were online due to Covid-19 related local regulations. The CBS Leadership Team, peers from Sofia and the management in the US and Poland welcomed the new colleagues in Singapore on board via a live on-line conference call and special video messages recorded for the occasion.
