AIBEST awarded the winners of the first free summer technical academy for students in Burgas

With great interest and strong competition, the first summer technical academy of AIBEST, whose pilot edition was held in Burgas, has ended. Nearly 100 students, divided into 14 teams, took part in the Academy, which was organized in partnership with the Municipality of the city.

With the help of mentors from the largest Bulgarian and international IT companies, members of AIBEST, the students programmed an online platform for standardized creation of CVs. A five-member jury with representatives from the guild evaluated the projects and announced the winners in the Academy.

“The winning team Quicksilver impressed the judges with a comprehensive project and presentation. During the 3-week period of the Academy, the participants used a vast package of technologies with which they built a completed product with a variety of functionalities. During the presentation, the team also demonstrated its good teamwork skills," commented Nataliya Shishkova-Georgieva, executive director of AIBEST.

Students from the 9th, 10th, and 11th grades grade from the Vocational High School for Computer Programming and Innovation, the Vocational High School for Electrical Engineering and Electronics "Konstantin Fotinov", as well as children from the national program "Training for IT Skills and Career" of the Ministry of Education and Science participated in the summer technical academy of AIBEST.

"Until now, I had not participated in such projects mainly because my specialty at school is focused on another field. I learned many things including types of frameworks, building a connection between front end and back end, and teamwork skills. I would definitely participate in a program like that again," commented Raya Ivanova, representative of the winning team.

After the success of the pilot edition of the summer academy, AIBEST plans to turn the initiative into an annual one and multiply it in other cities that have the potential to develop the high-tech industry.
