SoftServe and the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation joined forces to develop a modern web platform for players, coaches, parents, referees and volleyball fans
[Sofia, 11.07.2025] - The global leader in digital and software solutions SoftServe and the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation have joined forces to create a modern platform – a new online home for Bulgarian volleyball at the familiar address www.bvf.bg.
SoftServe created the new website of the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation as part of its policy of social responsibility and pro bono technological volunteering. The updated platform improves access to information and user engagement.
The project was launched in 2023 with the idea of basic technological improvements, but in partnership, SoftServe and the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation are expanding its scale - the goal is to provide a comprehensive, innovative and interactive digital platform for volleyball coaches, parents, players and fans.
What was the need for the BFV for this change?
The Bulgarian Volleyball Federation is committed to the development of volleyball in our country and to attracting more young people to the sport. The development must also be adequate in the online space – with a website that meets modern technological standards and challenges, so that there is no restriction on access to important information. On the contrary – all interested parties should have an easy, innovative and pleasing to the eye way to get to everything important related to their favorite game.
BFV sought a solution that would improve the user experience and provide more interactive communication with the volleyball community.
"I am happy to announce this wonderful news for Bulgarian volleyball in the midst of this hot volleyball summer, in which the most successful team sport in Bulgaria achieved something unique for the native sport. 8 national teams qualified and are participating in the highest international competitions - world and European championships. At the same time, we already have a modernized website at the highest world level. It is important for us to develop in every direction, and the modern website with many useful functionalities for everyone is good news for our entire big volleyball family," said the president of the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation, Lyubomir Ganev.
"The new website is a huge step forward in the digital development of the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation. In addition to offering opportunities for fans to experience the news from volleyball life in Bulgaria at the national and club level easily, intuitively and with a vision adequate to the times, it is actually much more than an information site of an institution, it is a platform in which Bulgarian volleyball lives. The place where coaches, clubs, referees, competitors, parents of volleyball talents will "feel at home" and will find necessary and useful information. We are extremely pleased with the section for children and youth volleyball and, above all, with the opportunity to directly follow the results of all matches among adolescents - a function that will immensely increase interest in the site ," said the vice president of the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation at the time of project implementation, David Davidov, on whose initiative the partnership for the development of the modern platform is being implemented.
"Working with SoftServe was fruitful and inspiring. Their team showed professionalism and true dedication to the sport and our mission. We are grateful for this partnership," added David Davidov.
SoftServe 's contribution
In 2023, as part of OpenTech - SoftServe 's pro bono technology platform , with which the company works on significant social projects, the technology leader began the development of the Federation's new website, investing its resources in the name of young athletes and the development of volleyball in our country.
Volunteers from SoftServe are investing nearly 12,000 man-hours into the project. Key technological improvements include a better user experience, new functionalities, and a flexible and easy way to manage content, which enables other institutions to integrate with the BWF using the new API. Among the platform’s functionalities are:
SoftServe 's commitment to digital transformation and social projects. We are delighted to be able to use technology to support the development of Bulgarian volleyball and create a modern digital environment for young athletes, their coaches, parents and fans."
It was definitely an interesting and challenging project, during which we ourselves from SoftServe got to know the sport in detail. Of course, we encountered challenges in the process, but with teamwork and even friendship, we managed to reach today's result," shares Kaloyan Tsvetkov, Project Lead from SoftServe
Results and impact
The new website significantly improves the digital experience for users, providing quick and easy access to information about upcoming events, results and news. This modernization is a step forward in building a stronger and more cohesive volleyball community in Bulgaria.
"Thanks to our partners at SoftServe , we were able to realize many of our ideas in our quest to create not just a redesigned news and results site, but a true portal to the world of Bulgarian and world volleyball. We are extremely grateful to them for finding like-minded people in their person, with whose help we built a corner for everyone who is a fundamental factor in the volleyball community - clubs, coaches, competitors, referees, parents and fans. There is a lot of constant work ahead to fill all these areas with content and life, but thanks to the professionalism and dedication of the great SoftServe team , we now have a stable and interactive foundation for this ," said Ivaylo Tsvetkov, Marketing and Communications Director at BFV.
