Hewlett Packard Enterprise support to LGBT + organizations in Bulgaria beyond the Sofia Pride Parade

The topic of diversity and inclusion has always been on focus for the company and is crucial part of HPE culture. For another year in a row the Global Delivery Center of Hewlett Packard Enterprise in Bulgaria gave its support to the 14th edition of Sofia Pride. Both in person and virtual participation were possible which attracted the largest number of visitors in its history. More than 10,000 people took part in the concert in front of the Monument to the Soviet Army and in the procession, over which a rainbow rose! Driven by the desire to transfer the valuable dialogue live to the inner world of the company, the team of YEN Bulgaria, one of the resource groups at HPE, planned and held an open discussion at the end of the Pride month. Representatives of the four associations that are behind the organization of Sofia Pride as well as a number of online and present cultural and sports events within Sofia Pride Arts, Sofia Pride Film Fest and Sofia Pride Sport were invited to participate in it.

Lilly Dragoeva from Bilitis, Simeon Vassilev from GLAS, Denitsa Lyubenova from Deystvie and Nikoleta Gabrovska from Single Step told us more about their teams and joint cause. We also learned more about current campaigns that support the rights of people from the LGBT + community, their mental and physical health, their path to coming out and acceptance. The conversation traced both the successes and achievements, as well as the challenges faced by the individual organizations during the implementation not only of Sofia Pride, but also of the numerous activities that they all initiate. In addition, HPE team members learned various opportunities for support to both the community and the individual associations.

In October, YEN Bulgaria and Deystvie association brought Sofia Pride Film Fest to every HPE team member’s home. In two consecutive sessions we screened the short and widely recognized films of Slava Doycheva - "Eggshells" and "Whole". The subsequent conversation with Slava Doycheva, Kiril Prodanov and Denitsa Lyubenova revealed interesting facts about the shooting of the films, what influenced the selection of the actors, how the concept was born, whose stories are shared in the movies and how much courage does it take to tell them to the broader audience!
